Spring is here and summer is on its way. That means cookouts and barbecue season are just beginning at your new home in Raleigh. Here are a few simple tips from Heritage Wake Forest for refreshing and updating your outdoor living space in time for your first neighborhood cookout. Share your favorite outdoor décor tips with us on Facebook.

1. The simplest way to breathe new life into your outdoor space is to pick up new cushions or pillows for your outdoor furniture. Try a new color scheme or pattern this year. Add a matching tablecloth and outdoor area rug. Give your new home in Raleigh all the chic styles of indoor living with similar outdoor counterparts. For great outdoor decorating ideas and inspiration, browse the Pinterest app and pin your favorite designs to use in your outdoor space.

2. Go green outdoors too. Plant a container garden on your patio, porch, or deck. Use new ceramic pots for an elegant style or terracotta ones for a traditional look. You can even try a simpler country chic look with recycled plant containers from old kitchen or gardening wares. Turn an old watering can, food containers, etc. into green vegetable or herb planters for your outdoor space. For container ideas and other how-to projects for your yard and garden try the free HGTV to GO app for your iPhone or iPad.

3. Give your new home in Raleigh a beautiful new addition. Add garden art, wind chimes, or birdhouse to your outdoor living space. Gaudy pink flamingos are out, but cute little garden gnomes, butterflies, birds, or frogs are always fun to find in your outdoor space.

4. Create a warm atmosphere in your outdoor living space with a fire pit or firepot. Invite family and friends over to your new home for Smores and cozy conversations around your new fire pit. Find the right fire pit for your space by browsing the free Lowes App for Apple users. You can also find similar items at the Home Depot App.

5. Let there be light at your outdoor living space. Add a string of solar lights to your space or pick up a solar lantern for a quiet spot in your garden. Lighting up your new home in Raleigh with solar energy means you don’t need extra electricity or energy to brighten your outdoor living space.

6. Create peace and tranquility in your garden or on your deck with a water feature. Add a fountain or container water garden to your outdoor living space for additional beauty and ambiance.

Spring is in the air and maybe in your new home too. Spring officially begins on March 20, so why not bring the colors of the season inside? Decorate your new home in Wake Forest with hot new colors this season inspired by beautiful Spring flowers. Popular colors this season include bright, bold colors that really make a statement. Try dark peacock blues, apricot, tangerine orange, fuchsia, and vibrant green for your new home. Warm yellows and rich, dark browns are also making a comeback this season.

Spring color palettes are really about making a bold color statement this year. To help you find a palette to fit your personality and lifestyle, take the HGTV Color Quiz. If you need additional help choosing the perfect hues for your new home, here are 3 color finding apps to help you enjoy the colors of the season when decorating for Spring. Share your favorite home decorating apps with us on Facebook.

1. Sherwin Williams ColorSnap app is available for both Apple and Android mobile products, including phones and tablets. With this free app, you can take a photo with your phone and tap on a color in in the photo to find a matching Sherwin William’s paint color for a room in your new home in Wake Forest. You can save colors to your favorites, update them, and even post them to your social media. The app will even allow you to compile a color palate and locate the nearest store with your color schemes.

2. Painting Walls Pro app is available for Apple products only. For $2.99, you can take a picture of the room you are thinking of painting and open the picture with the app. From here you can pick Spring colors and see what the room will look like when you are finished painting. Swap out colors to find the one that suits your home décor the best. You can save your final picture and share it on your social media sites too for feedback from friends and family.

3. Behr Color Smart app is available for both Apple and Android mobile products. This app allows you to browse the Behr color catalog as well as designer color palettes. You can also take a picture and find the matching Behr color by tapping on the color you are interested in. This app also allows you to paint a picture of the room with the color you have chosen. When you are done designing your room, the app will calculate the amount of paint you will need for the job and help you find the store nearest your new home in Wake Forest with available paint.

For more information about the Heritage Golf Club membership, call Tami Bright at 919-453-2020 ext. 12 or email her at tbright@theheritageclub.net.

1. Brush up on your golf skills with lessons with a Golf Pro from Heritage Wake Forest’s Golf Club. You can schedule an appointment with David Sykes, the Head Golf Professional, or Michael Taylor, the Assistant Golf Professional. Lessons are by appointment only and are scheduled through the Golf Shop by calling 919-453-2020 ext. 2.

2. Take time during the winter months to check your golf equipment. Wash your clubs, clean the grooves with a toothbrush, and check your grips. If you need to replace grips or are looking for the latest in new club technology, then stop by the Heritage Golf Shop near your new home in Wake Forest to browse new golf equipment.

3. Practice your swing at the Heritage Practice Facilities. You can prepare and perfect your swing for spring at the driving range, target greens, practice bunker, chipping green, putting green or private teaching tee located near your new home.

4. When not out on Heritage’s green or practice facilities, you can try weight training and yoga at your new home in Wake Forest. Strengthening your core muscles will help you swing harder, hit the ball farther, and maintain swing consistency. Yoga will also help you improve your flexibility and swing range of motion.

5. Stay up to date and involved in the golf game and current news by watching the golf channel and downloading golf apps. GolfTraxx is a great free app for iPhones that provides helpful information about every golf hole on a course. GolfCard is another app for iPhones that will keep score of your game, find your range, provide course information, and even list the USGA Handicap Index for $9.99.

Romance is not just for Valentine’s Day. You can keep up the romance in your relationship every night at your new home in Wake Forest. We, at Heritage Wake Forest, are sharing 7 ways you can continue the sparks of Valentine’s Day throughout the year. Share your best romance tips with us on Facebook.

1. Date Night – Find a babysitter and take the time to schedule a date night. Go out to dinner or a movie or an event that you both love to do together. Get dressed up and enjoy your time without the kids for at least one night a month.

2. Treat Yourself – Get your nails or hair done. Go to the spa for a facial or massage. Buy yourself a new pair of shoes or little black dress. If you take the time to pamper yourself and feel sexy, you and your partner will enjoy cuddle time.

3. Surprises – Bring a little mystery back in to your relationship. Leave little love notes for your partner around your new home in Wake Forest or surprise your partner with his or her favorite meal or tickets to an upcoming event. Husbands can really surprise their wives by finishing housework without being asked. Little surprises always mean the most to busy couples.

4. Compliment each other – A compliment goes a long way in a relationship. Find kind words to say to each other during the week.

5. Breakfast/coffee in bed – Who doesn’t love breakfast in bed? And if you aren’t the best cook, bring your Valentine coffee in bed at your new home in Wake Forest.

6. Give flowers – Bring home flowers whenever you go to the grocery store. Most stores have lovely flowers for less than $10. Flowers brighten everyone’s day and add beauty to your new home.

7. Hold hands – Take a walk through Heritage Wake Forest’s greenway trails and hold hands. Little gestures like hand holding show how much you care for your Valentine throughout the year.
